KYANITE
General information
Kyanite, or disthene, is white, greenish, blue, or blue/gray striped. It is layered, transparent, or opaque with a glassy or pearly sheen. It is a very fragile stone.
Effect
Kyanite is a spiritual stone with a calming and balancing effect. It helps us take control of our own lives and realize that we are not puppets of fate but can shape our own future. The stone has a calming effect, brings inner peace, and helps break through our blockages and fears. It promotes spontaneity and empathy, and encourages self-expression and communication. It also promotes clarity of mind, logical and rational thinking, and honesty and sincerity. Spiritually, it enhances our psychic abilities and intuition and aids in meditation and connecting with guides. The stone has a grounding effect and cleanses and balances the chakras and aura. Physically, kyanite has a positive effect on the (cerebral) brain, motor skills and flexibility, muscles, thyroid, (adrenal) glands, throat, and larynx, and has an antipyretic effect. It is a good stone for singers and those who have to speak in public.
Care
Raw kyanite should not be cleaned under hard running water.

Kyanite can be worn on or near the body.

Etymology
Kyanite is named after the Greek word kyanos, which means blue. Disthene comes from the Greek words di (= two) and stenos = strength.

Kyanite is currently still mined in the United States, Brazil, Switzerland and France, among other places.
