OPAL
General information
Opal can be colorless, white, black, pink, orange, and highly iridescent. The stone is transparent to translucent and has a glassy to resinous luster. There are different varieties, often depending on color, such as: hyalite (colorless), cacholong (white), fire opal (orange with a pearly sheen), precious opal (highly iridescent), Andes opal, girasol opal, and chrysopal. Dendrite opal has inclusions and is also called merlinite. Opalite or opaline is not a true opal but (artificially created) glass.
Effect
Opal is a protective and energizing stone. It makes you cheerful, optimistic, full of life, spontaneous, original, and creative, and stimulates an interest in art and an appreciation for beautiful things. The stone also has a strong connection to love, passion, and (enjoying) sexuality, and promotes faithfulness and loyalty. Physically, opal stimulates the body's self-healing capacity and has a purifying effect. It has a positive effect on memory, Parkinson's disease, infections, fever, and the adrenal glands.
Care
Opal can discolor under the influence of (bright) sunlight. It is also best not to clean opal with water.
Applications
Opal can be worn on or near the body (fire opal is very suitable for this).
Opal can be placed on the body (chrysopal is very suitable for this). This is particularly effective on the heart.
An opal stone can be used for meditation.
