Beryl

General information

Beryl is an important group of gemstones with highly variable properties. The stones can be green, blue, yellow, red and white in colour and transparent to translucent. Some well-known beryl varieties are: emerald (green), aquamarine (blue), heliodore (yellow-green), morganite (pink), bixbite (red), goshenite (colourless) and golden beryl (golden yellow).

Effect

Beryl has a calming effect, reduces (the effects of) stress, and promotes goal-oriented, efficient, clear-headedness, focus, and helps you realize your potential. The stone reduces nervousness, tension, emotional stress, and overstimulation. It is motivating, gives courage, and makes you cheerful. It helps you have a positive outlook on life and realize your plans and goals step by step. It stimulates foresight, promotes thoughtfulness, and reduces reckless and risky behavior. Physically, beryl has a detoxifying effect and reduces symptoms caused by stress. The stone has a positive effect on the liver, lungs, heart, circulatory system, stomach, and spine.

Bixbite has an activating effect and makes you dynamic, decisive, and helps ground you. Golden beryl is a spiritual stone with harmonious properties. It has a calming effect and aids in divination (such as fortune telling with gemstones) and other spiritual practices.

Beryl can discolour under the influence of (bright) sunlight.

Application

Beryl can be worn on or near the body.

It can be used as a meditation stone. The elixir can be used for throat infections.

Gold beryl is associated with the zodiac sign Leo.

Depending on color. Gold beryl works on the solar plexus chakra.

Etymology

Beryl comes from the word berullus, which in Roman times was used to refer to gemstones with a sea-green color.

Beryl is found in Mozambique, Brazil, Norway and Madagascar, among other places.
